There is a feature in macOS Monterey to prepare a Mac for resale, transfer, or disposal. Among other things, the SoC encrypts the stored data using a key unique to a particular Mac Studio … so you can't pull the SSDs, take them to another Mac Studio, and read the contents. ![]() It would appear that the SSD slots are not necessarily for standard M.2 SSDs – but perhaps for some type of raw flash storage modules managed by the M1 Max or Ultra SoC. If you think you may need more storage capacity in the future, consider configuring to a higher capacity. Note: Mac Studio storage is not user accessible. ![]()
